Depth, in your colours

Foam PVC is the material behind most reception logos. It is light, cuts precisely, takes paint in any colour and goes up without heavy work. For a 3D logo that has to match a brand colour closely, it is often where we start.

We scale the logo to your wall, choose the thickness and finish with you, have the PVC letters cut to the exact outline of your artwork, then install them. Here is what you need to know to choose well.

What's at stake

Three things that make the difference on a PVC logo.

The exact colour

PVC can be painted in your brand colour, specified as RAL or Pantone. Faces and edges can match or contrast.

The right thickness

Too thin and the logo looks flat. Too thick for a small letter and it looks heavy. Thickness is set by reading distance and letter size.

A clean installation

PVC is light: it can be fixed with double-sided tape on a smooth wall or held off the wall on stand-offs. An installation template keeps everything aligned to the millimetre.

Foam PVC, a material made for relief

The PVC used for 3D logos is foam PVC: a rigid board with a cellular core and smooth faces. It is much lighter than wood or metal at the same thickness, which makes fixing simpler and puts less strain on a partition wall.

It is cut digitally with great precision. Curves stay crisp, counters (the inside of an "o" or an "a") come out clean, and the small details of a logo hold up better than in wood. Several layers can also be combined to create stepped effects.

Colours and finishes

PVC comes in solid white and solid black. Anything else is painted. That is what makes it the most flexible material for reproducing a brand identity.

When the logo includes a gradient, a photo or many colours, direct printing on the face takes over. See our logo printing page.

  • Satin white: clean and bright, it stands out on a dark wall or a raw material.
  • Matt black: graphic and high-contrast, it absorbs light and avoids reflections.
  • Painted in your brand colour: RAL paint or Pantone colour matching.
  • Face and edge in different colours: a bright edge under a white face, for instance, for added depth.
  • Printed face or vinyl-covered face: for multicoloured logos or material effects.

Thickness and size of PVC letters

Thickness depends on the distance the logo will be read from. For a reception wall seen from three or four metres, 10 to 19 mm is enough to cast a real shadow. For a high-ceilinged lobby or a longer reading distance, we go thicker or mount the letters on stand-offs.

Letter size follows the same logic: reading distance sets it, not the space available on the wall. Bold or semi-bold typefaces give the best result in relief. Everything is checked on a scale mock-up before cutting. More detail on our 3D logo page.

Fixing: double-sided tape, stand-offs or base

On a smooth, sound wall, PVC letters are fixed with suitable double-sided tape. Installation is quick and clean, with no drilling. The logo becomes part of the wall.

On stand-offs, the letters sit a few centimetres proud of the wall. The cast shadow strengthens the relief, and this option copes with uneven surfaces such as brick or raw concrete.

The logo can also be mounted on a base and placed on a reception desk, a shelf or a stand. It is a practical option for an event or a showroom. We can prepare shipping within France or abroad with suitable packaging.

Indoors, sheltered outdoors: where to install a PVC logo

Indoors, PVC works anywhere: reception, meeting rooms, corridors, break areas. It also suits signage that matches the logo, such as room names or floor markers.

Outdoors, it holds up in a sheltered spot (under a porch or canopy, in an open lobby) if it is treated and painted for that use. On a façade exposed to full sun and weather, we point you towards metal or a cut-letter shop sign.

PVC, wood or metal: how to choose

PVC is the choice for colour and precision. It reproduces a brand identity faithfully, is easy to install and is the lightest option.

Before any cutting, we come and look at the wall: dimensions, surface, light, how far back visitors stand. You then receive a scale mock-up on a photo of your wall, with the proposed thickness, colour and fixing. You approve it or we adjust.

A wooden logo brings the warmth of a natural material but stays indoors and needs artwork that can stand up to cutting. Metal gives a more corporate look and copes better with an exposed façade. A living wall logo brings plants into the office.

Twenty years of experience and more than 1,200 projects in Paris and the Île-de-France region: we recommend the material that suits your wall, not the one that suits us. To get started, send us your brief.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a 3D PVC logo?

It is a logo cut from a foam PVC board, a rigid and lightweight material, then painted or printed and fixed to the wall. The letters have real thickness and cast a shadow, unlike a flat vinyl sticker.

Can a PVC logo be installed outdoors?

Yes in a sheltered spot, if it is treated and painted for outdoor use. For a façade exposed to sun and rain, metal is a better fit.

Can you match our exact brand colours?

Yes. PVC can be painted in the RAL or Pantone colour of your brand. For a gradient or very colourful logo, we print directly on the face.

How are PVC letters fixed?

With double-sided tape on a smooth wall, on stand-offs to lift the letters and create a shadow, or on a base for a desk or shelf. Wall installation uses a full-scale template.

What is the difference between a PVC logo and an acrylic logo?

PVC is opaque, easy to paint and the lightest option. Acrylic allows transparency, colour through the material and backlighting. The choice depends on the effect you want.

How do you look after a PVC logo?

A slightly damp microfibre cloth is enough. No solvents or abrasive sponges on painted faces. Letters on stand-offs are dusted from the top.

How much does a PVC logo cost?

The quote depends on letter size, thickness, finish and installation conditions. We prepare it after a site survey so that it matches what will be invoiced.
