Event decoration, the Paristic way

Paristic is a space design agency that designs, makes and installs bespoke event decor for brands, party organisers and venues: stages and DJ booths, illuminated logos, preserved moss sets, pop-up stores, store dressings and live artist performances.

We do not rent props from a catalogue. Our art directors imagine the world, our workshop makes it, our teams install and dismantle it. Since 2006, more than 1,200 fit-out and decoration projects in Paris, across Île-de-France and throughout France.

An event set draws on the same skills as our permanent work: 3D logos and lettering, wall decoration, murals and street art, shop window decoration. For a lasting decor in a restaurant or hotel, see restaurant and hotel decoration.

Decor rental or bespoke decor: two different trades

Under the same name you find prop rental companies, wedding decorators and agencies that make things. Knowing which one fits your event avoids paying for one and getting the other.

Themed decor rental

Existing props, rented for the duration of the event. It is the right answer for a themed party, a wedding or an evening whose decor does not have to carry a brand.

Decor designed and made to measure

A decor drawn for your brand, your venue and your message, then made for the occasion: illuminated logo, dressed stage, pop-up, moss wall. This is what Paristic does: the decor becomes part of the identity of the event, the thing guests photograph and share.

Story

A party concept created from scratch

For the Story parties we created everything: the name, the concept, the logo in finger-jointed oak and preserved moss with embedded LEDs, the flyers, and a fairy-tale forest set around the stage and the DJ booth, with birch trunks mounted on custom-made metal stands. Installed and removed by our teams.

Cocobeach

A fairy-tale world for parties of several thousand people

Backlit acrylic raised lettering with preserved moss, a typeface created by our studio, gloss laminated film for a spot-varnish effect, acrylic signage panels: everything was made, installed and dismantled by a single team, in a tight space.

Coach, Le Bon Marché

Live digital graffiti performances

During the "Geek Mais Chic" exhibition at Le Bon Marché, Coach ran a pop-up store set in a reconstructed metro carriage. Paristic selected around ten graffiti artists and organised more than ten performances, during which visitors could try the digital spray can themselves.

Adidas, Champs-Élysées

A store transformed for a street art performance

For a graffiti event, the Champs-Élysées store received a complete street art set: film laminated onto faux fur and cut to shape to create characters in volume, and furniture, panels and walls made to order, then customised by the guest artists.

What we design and make for an event

Stage and DJ booth sets

Structures, trunks, vines, greenery, illuminated spheres: the stage is where every guest looks, so we treat it like a theatre set.

Illuminated 3D logo and lettering

The name of the event or brand in acrylic, wood or metal, LED backlit, with or without preserved moss, made in our workshop.

Preserved moss and natural decor

Preserved moss, lichen, hedges and foliage, birch trunks: a green set with no watering that keeps its look for the whole event.

Venue dressing and total covering

Walls, partitions, columns and glazing covered with printed film to transform a room, store or showroom for the event, then removed cleanly.

Pop-up stores and event retail

Furniture, panels and volumes made to order, window display and window graphics: the set for a launch or an in-store operation.

Live artistic performances

Graffiti writers, street artists, digital graffiti: we select the artists and organise the performances that bring the event to life in front of the audience.

Event signage

Acrylic panels, wayfinding, maps, bars and cloakrooms: the signage carries the world of the decor instead of breaking it.

For which events

Cocobeach: birch trunks, vines and moss hedge around the DJ booth
  • Parties and clubs

A complete world around the stage, the DJ booth and the bar, installed before doors open and dismantled afterwards.

  • Product or concept launches

A decor that presents the brand from the entrance, like the show floor made for the launch of the Jo&Joe hotel.

  • Pop-ups and in-store operations

A store transformed for the length of an operation, without building work, and handed back as it was.

  • Corporate parties and seminars

The company identity staged in a reception venue: stage, entrance and signage in the brand colours.

  • Trade shows and exhibitions

Stands and brand spaces in an exhibition hall, with the fire ratings specific to trade shows.

Event decor and fire safety: the exact rules

Most events take place in a French public building (ERP): reception venue, club, store, exhibition hall. The safety regulations approved by the decree of 25 June 1980 then apply to the decor, with rules specific to temporary events. Here are the articles that matter, in their current version.

Exceptional use authorisation (article GN 6)
Holding an event in a venue other than its authorised use, or an attraction that may present a risk to the public, requires an authorisation request filed at least two months before the event. When the organiser is not the venue operator, both file the request jointly. It must state, among other things, the nature of the event, its duration, the expected attendance, the escape routes and the materials used for the planned decorations [1]. The two-month period applies since the version of 4 November 2023: many guides still quote the old deadline.
Garlands and hanging decor (article AM 10)
Floating decorative elements such as panels over 0.50 m², garlands and light decorative objects, in a room larger than 50 m² or in a circulation area, must be category M1. Fabric ceilings are banned in principle; a net with meshes over 10 cm² and a weave of no more than 25% of its surface has no fire rating requirement [2].
Wall-fixed decor: the 20% threshold (article AM 9)
Raised decorative elements fixed to vertical walls must be C-s3, d0 or M2 when their combined projected surface exceeds 20% of the total area of those walls. Stretched wall coverings must be M2 [3].
Artificial flowers and Christmas trees (article AM 19)
Floral decorations made of synthetic materials must be limited in number, otherwise category M2. Christmas trees are allowed at certain short events; above 1.70 m the tree must be out of the public’s reach, and naked flames are forbidden [4].
Trade show stands (article T 21)
In an exhibition hall, stand frames and partitions must be category M3, synthetic floral decorations limited or M2, and coverings of podiums over 0.30 m high and over 20 m² may be M3 [5].

At Paristic, fire rating is part of choosing every material from the mock-up stage. Ask us for the classification reports of the selected materials: they complete the organiser's or operator's safety file.

How an event decoration project runs

  1. The brief

Your event, your audience, your brand, the venue, the set-up and take-down dates. We visit the venue whenever possible.

  2. The concept

Our art directors propose a world and, if needed, a complete identity: name, logo, printed materials.

  3. The mock-up

You see the decor in the venue before production: stage, entrance, bar, signage.

  4. Materials and compliance

Materials chosen for use, transport and fire rating, so the safety file is ready.

  5. Production

Lettering, structures, greenery, prints and cut pieces leave our workshop.

  6. Set-up and take-down

Our teams install the decor before doors open and dismantle it afterwards, at night if needed.

What sets the price of event decoration

A bespoke set is priced on the real project. Six factors set it. We prepare an itemised quote from your brief.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is event decoration?

Event decoration is every piece of decor installed for the duration of an event: stage, entrance, bar, walls, hanging elements, illuminated logo, signage. It can be rented from a catalogue for a party or a wedding, or designed and made to measure for a brand, a party, a launch or a pop-up. Paristic works to measure: designed by its studio, made in its workshop, installed and dismantled by its teams.

How much does an event decorator cost?

There is no single rate: the price of bespoke event decor depends on the creative work (a set alone or a full concept), volumes and surfaces, materials and their fire ratings, any artist performances, set-up and take-down conditions, and the number of editions. Paristic prepares an itemised quote from the brief and, where possible, a visit to the venue.

What are the trending colours for events?

For a brand event, the right palette starts from the brand identity and the light of the venue, not from a general trend: under coloured stage lights, a moss green or a rose gold reads very differently than in daylight. We approve colours on a mock-up and, for key pieces, on a sample under the planned lighting.

Decor rental or bespoke decor: which should I choose?

Rental suits a themed party or a wedding, when the decor does not need to carry a brand. Bespoke is the answer when the decor must express an identity, fit a venue exactly or become the piece guests photograph: illuminated logo, dressed stage, pop-up, moss wall.

How far in advance should event decoration be planned?

As early as possible, since design, production and paperwork take time. If the event takes place in a French public building (ERP) for a use other than the authorised one, the authorisation request under article GN 6 must be filed at least two months before the event, listing the materials of the planned decorations.

Does the decor comply with fire regulations?

We choose materials according to the articles of the French safety regulations that apply to the venue: category M1 for garlands and hanging decor in a room larger than 50 m² (article AM 10), C-s3, d0 or M2 for raised decor beyond 20% of the walls (article AM 9), M3 for trade show stand frames (article T 21). Ask us for the classification reports of the selected materials for your safety file.

Do you work throughout France?

Yes. Paristic is based in Paris and works across Île-de-France and throughout France. The decor is made in our workshop, transported, installed and dismantled by our teams. Since 2006 the agency has delivered more than 1,200 projects.
